![]() Siggraph from Beyond Page 2 of 4 Continuing along in my alphabetical progression, I would normally be getting to the Bs right about now. Hmmm. If only I'd met with a company that started with B that would let me talk about what I saw, or what I may have only thought I saw. Such subtle hints.... Moving on, Curious Labs made my morning Wednesday by giving me a preview of the long-awaited release of Poser 5 for Mac OS X. The first Aqua-fied version of the character animation tool expands on the enormous advancements seen in Poser 4 and the Poser 4 Pro Pack with the addition of cloth simulation, hair dynamics, a Face Room with facial mapping for photographic images, collision detection, improved rendering and previews and expanded content. Poser has clearly made its way into the realm of professional animation tools, and the Mac version is just "this close" to final release. We'll bring you more when it ships. I had a chance to sit down with it for a bit and explore some of its wide range of tools for 16-bit painting, rotoscoping and compositing. For broadcasters, the software is integrated into Curious' World Maps. And it's available as a standalone tool for video producers for motion graphics, visual effects, painting, rotoscoping, wire and rig removal and image manipulation. Unannounced, yet entirely real, is a collection of Photoshop plugins called Texture Anarchy, a procedural texture generator that will look, on the surface, familiar to Kai fans, though with many more features, controls and practicality than were available in, say, KPT 5. It includes texture generation, seamless tile generation and border effects and should ship early next week. Digital Anarchy is also working on bringing its Photoshop filters to After Effects, and vice-versa. Look for an upcoming tutorial on using Anarchy Toolbox for using colors in Expressions in After Effects 6. Anarchy burger, hold the government. Delicious.
