TORONTO, Ont.,
Canada -- Alias|Wavefront showcased the newest technology addition to
the Maya family at Siggraph 99 in August, called Paint Effects.
The
company calls Paint Effects "a revolutionary new paint technology"
which simplifies the creation of realistic special effects. It says
Paint Effects will dramatically alter how artists approach the creation
of synthetic environments, realistic texturing and animated dynamics.

At Siggraph
'99 Alias|Wavefront released Maya 2 -- the third major release of Maya,
featuring advancements in rendering, character animation, particles
and dynamics, modeling, and targeted new features for game developers.
Also,
at SIGGRAPH '99, over 3,500 Alias|Wavefront gathered for their largest
user group meeting in history, on Sunday, August 8, at the Los Angeles
Sports Arena. Habib Zarganpour, senior technical director at ILM, gave
the keynote speech on the use of Maya in the creation of "Star
Wars: The Phantom Menace."
