About the Artist

William Arance is the chief model maker for Available Light Ltd., a post-production facility specializing in motion picture visual effects. His 3D models have appeared in such films as "The Arrival" and Walt Disney's "My Favorite Martian." In his spare time, he applies his talents to creating aviation art. His pieces are sold in galleries in the Los Angeles area.

Each model is manufactured from actual blueprints and painstakingly researched to insure accuracy. The texturing process is a virtual study in various painting techniques and meticulous detail. Once completed, the model is then placed against a painted backdrop and lit to complete the dramatic compositions.

Arance uses NewTek's LightWave 3D package in concert with Adobe Photoshop. The computer is a dual Pentium Pro 200MHz machine with 524MB of RAM running Windows NT.
