Trevoli Photo Finale Entry level digital photo software By John Virata

Photo Finale is an entry level image editing and management application that is designed to help you manage and manipulate your digital camera images. Priced at $39.95, the software can be found in many independent photo dealer and retail locations. Within this review, we'll check out some of the features that this software has to digital camera enthusiasts.

When you first lauch Photo Finale, you are greeted with a welcome screen (You can also turn this window off at startup) and six big icons; Organize, Get Photos, Fix, Order, View CD, and Share. Each of these buttons represent a task that you can complete within the software. There are two ways you can work in the program.

Photo Finale startup screen

You can choose to use the quick access buttons to get to a specific task or you can press continue on the welcome screen and work with the tools in a traditional sense. For this review, we'll follow the big buttons, as this will ease you into the inner workings of the software. After you have had some experience with the software, you can choose to turn the welcome screen off so it doesn't appear at startup.

Organize
When you click the organize button, the Find and Add photos window opens. From here the software scours your hard drive folders in search of photos to bring into Photo Finale. When the software finishes compiling the images, it brings the images down into a thumbnail window below the main viewing window, complete with names and dates the images were brought into the computer. After the software brings all the images into the computer, you can further organize them via the Library. From the Library window, you can drag and drop images based on the provided categories, which include People, places, Events, Other, and an all purpose category called No Category.

You can also create your own categories here as well with a simple right click of the mouse when in the Library. When you drag the thumbnails into a category, a proxy image is put in its place, as all the images still remain in the All Photos category.  This is a convenient feature when adding new photos from an event likle a party or a trip.

Content Insider #148 - The iGen
NO...Doesn't have a thing to do with "that" smartphone...or "that" store...or "that" tablet. It's the next generation. Kids and we mean little kids. That's what today's products are being designed for/targeted at. You happen to buy one...fine. Watch a little, little kid pick up a smartphone. He/she just uses it. They've come pre-wired and we're still trying to figure out how to IM. It's the IGen. They want it instantly. They want to use it instantly. They expect their photos, their video, their music, their stuff immediately when/where/how they want it. Read More

Insider #149 - Game Demographics
The blood, gore, adrenalin challenges that were unveiled at E3 and enjoyed at ComicCon are fun to look at, easy to hold but are they really the games people want to plunk down their credit cards to own or rent time with? Seems as though the investors, the players who control the controllers have a different idea of a "good" game than the kids who develop them. While mobs of people play educational, informational, stimulating games our kid huddles in his room and mumbles "The Few, The Proud, The Gamers." Read More
